Look, Ma! No Training Wheels!

A couple weeks ago, we took the training wheels off of Alice's bike.  She took off so fast, she didn't even need anyone to run behind her and help.

There she goes! (And check out the giant lilies on the right.  Louis' friend Claire said that they made the garden "smell so good, like a candle. A really nice one".)

There's no stopping her now!

Grandma Olga's Summer Visit

This summer Hector's Grandma came for a visit and stayed with his sister.  While she was here we all came over for a family barbeque.  Here is Olga and some of her great-grandkids, with one notable exception...

 Alice did not want to get in the picture.

It took a little convincing, but then she was all smiles.

Dancin' in the Rain

Alice's ballet class did their spring performance earlier this year.  My mom and dad were so happy that they were able to fly up and see her this time.

The dance troop put on The Mini (Little) Mermaid.  Alice's class were the storm dancers.  They danced to Singin' in the Rain in their super cute yellow rain coats.

She was the best dancer in her group, mostly because she actually danced while she was on stage.

Grandpa even got in on the action later that evening.

Cub Scout End of Year Ceremony

Hi everybody, remember me?  Sorry it's been so long since I posted, but I have a lot to catch everybody up on.

Last month Louis' cub scout troop had their end of year ceremony.  Here is my favorite Bear Cub and his proud papa.

Not only did Louis earn some badges, but he and the other Bear Cubs moved up, and are now Webelos.

They got a certificate stating that they had completed all their Bear Cub requirements.

And then they all got new Webelos neckerchiefs.

The Vancouver Children's Cultural Parade

Every year in Vancouver all the third grade students from all the schools in the district put on a cultural parade.  Louis and his class all learned about a different country from their heritage, and made a poster to wear in the parade showing off everything that they learned.

Happy 5th Birthday Alice!

Back in April Alice turned 5 years old!  I can't believe it either.  We had a little birthday party for her at our house.

We decorated the dining room in a Princess theme which Alice picked out.

 There was pizza (from Papa Murphy's, of course).

It was also Hector's birthday.  Here are the two happy birthday people.

 I made Alice a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and sprinkles.

This was the point that we realized that I accidentally bought trick birthday candles.

Alice loved all of her presents. 

Hector's sister gave him some wine for his birthday (she knows him so well).  After the presents we all went to the local bounce house playland, where the kids had lots of fun, but I didn't take any pictures.
