The Lion Side of March

We had some blustery weather this past weekend, and Alice and Hector made the most of it with some kite flying.

Alice did a really good job flying the kite...
until the neighbor's tree ate it.

Alice the Koala

This weekend Alice climbed into our hibiscus bush and pretended to be a koala.

I tried to get her to say cheese for the camera, but she informed me that koalas do not smile.

Playing Basketball

One of my co-workers very generously gave Louis his old basketball hoop recently.  Luckily the weather has been very nice, and Louis has already been able to use it a bunch.
 Eying the shot.
 He shoots...

he scores!

Return to the Ridgefield Bird Sanctuary

Earlier in January we went back to the Ridgefield Bird Sanctuary to do some more hiking/birdwatching.  It was chilly, but we had fun.  We saw some cool birds (wood ducks, cranes, and woodpecker), but they were all too fast for our camera.

New Year's 2015

Hector's Aunt and Uncle came up to visit for New Year's.  Cody was visiting from school too, so we had everybody come over for dinner.

The cousins.
Louis really wanted to give Cody bunny ears.

Alice made a herself a fort in the living room.

Christmas Dinner 2014

Hector's parents and sister came over for Christmas dinner and present exchanging.

We had a traditional Mexican Christmas dinner of tamales, rice, beans, and an ensalada de bueno noche (made by yours truly).

Louis was very excited to finally be able to light all the candles on his advent wreath.  He made it at church on the first Sunday of Advent, and we lit one new candle each Sunday before Christmas. Finally on Christmas day we lit the Christ candle in the middle.

Christmas Eve and Morning 2014

The kids were so excited on Christmas Eve to put out milk and cookies for Santa.

They waited very patiently on Christmas morning to open their presents.
So patiently they could hardly stand it.
Louis got just what he wanted, legos.
Alice with the play desert stand her brother picked out for her.
Louis with his second most requested item, an electric pencil sharpener.
